All, Anyone remember the 4x45 DCOE sidedraft Webers in an old Gary Hall catalog; they had really long runners (presumably good for mid-range) and would fit under the deck lid without cutting it up (unlike the 4x48 IDAs which require a hold cut in the deck)? I've seen such a set up on pictures (from the late 60's) of the Grand Sport Corvettes, so they must work. I asked Gary if he still has them, but he said he lost interest and feels that injection is the way to go. He sold the prototype. Anyone know what happened to Gary's prototype system? I know more about DCOEs than IDAs. I'm interested in picking up the development of the sidedraft system. On a side note, the IDAs are surrounded by stories of being potential fire hazards. How can this be? Porsches were manufactured for years with triple-choke IDAs, and so too several road-going V12 Ferraris and Lambos. If the stories are true, why dont Ps, Fs and Ls have a propensity for self imolation? Shane Ingate in San Diego
