Hello, My name is Dan Miller of San Diego Pantera chapter. I sent a rather lengthy individual E Mail earlier today to Steve Liebenow regarding my "MANY" bad experiences with a hydraulic throw out system on a Pantera. I will not get into the whole long winded story again, but suffice it to say that my advice would be to avoid it at all costs!!! It is fairly expensive to purchase the unit and misc pieces needed to insall it correctly, takes some skill and effort to set up and make work correctly, it is hard to get to it if you need/want to work on it (you have to pull the transaxle every time....I have gotten really fast at pulling a transaxle due to this experience!),and from my personal experiences does not hold up well in a Pantera that is actually "driven". It could leave you stranded somewhere you don't want to be, pretty much un-like the stock set up. The ONLY positive thing I can say about it is that if you are making a show car, it gets rid of all the original stuff up on the right top of the transaxle and makes it look real smooth, clean, with braided lines, etc. With a polished transaxle it looks great. Other than that...........DON'T DO IT!!!! I don't know if it will help, but it is apprently becoming common to use a Chevy truck MC on early Panteras when the original gives up the ghost. I think the only problem is a 3-bolt vs 4-bolt attachment to the (non)firewall. I have no idea how the Goose setup would differ though. > Anybody running a hydraulic throw out bearing?? Good? Bad? I too am curious about these. I like the concept of direct-acting force, and the ads claim to get more throw than via traditional means. I'm wondering how they measure up in the real world. -Andy 72 Pantera: power 91 Miata: quickness 96 A4Q: traction 84 RZ350: all the above
