With all of this talk about barefoot, socks, and shoes etc., be aware that it is illegal to drive in California without shoes. I know it is stupid but it can cost you a tickee. By the way, the original question mentioned not caring if he lost some pedal travel. DONT DO IT! Especially the clutch. In my humble opinion, the whole problem with 2nd gear synchro in the transaxle is caused by lack of clutch disingagement. Clutch manufacturers recommend .060 in. clearance, and you can't come close to this in a stock pantera set up. Keep the free play at the slave cylinder adjusted as small as possible (making sure you have SOME free play) and push the clutch pedal ALL the way to the floor when shifting.
