Hey, all; Been reading the good info about clutches and thought I'd go check the free play on my car, but not do any adjustment unless I was sure I needed to. I have no symptoms, so generally I try not to fix what ain't broke. After disconnecting the spring at the slave cylinder, I have about 1/8" or a tad more of play between the adjustment stop screw and the spring bracket. So I look in the manual, and IT says "....remove the adjustment stop screw and nut and DISCARD" (my caps, not the manual's...) Does it really mean that? Next step is remove boot and back off pushrod locknut; then ..."adjust length of pushrod to give 3/4" of free play and clutch pedal retaining locknut" Something is missing, at least to me. I have not taken off the boot, so I do not know if it is obvious HOW you adjust the length of the pushrod. There is no mention of removing the pin from the eyebolt end of the pushrod to allow it to turn, if that is how it goes. Also, I assume the 3/4" of freeplay referred to is at the pedal? But earlier in the verbage it says 1/4 to 7/16" at the pedal. As I said, I'm reluctant to disassemble what's working fine. It's funny that I can redo the clutch master cylinder, but I'm not yet getting this slave adjustment stuff.......... By the way, I tried the earlier described method of gaining some gas pedal space by sheet metal screwing the panel to the inner console; and it gave another 3/4" about of foot width space on my car, too. Good info here. whatcop@aol.com (Chris Bupp, 74L #6588, '93 Mitsu 3000GT VR-4, '93 S-10 Blazer (wife's truck))
