Hi All, I'm currently running a 351C-4V in a '66 Mustang fastback. It's probably a bit heavier than a Pantera (what do they weigh?) but it does have a five speed (Tremec) and similar final drive ratio. Parts include closed chamber heads, MSD/Mallory ignition, Edelbrock F351 intake, Carter/Edelbrock 750 carb, Harland Sharp roller rockers, Lunati cam (225 degrees duration @0.050", 0.550" lift, 108 LSA), 1 7/8" headers. I'm also using the MPG port plates on both the intake and exhaust. In retrospect I would have changed two things about my combo. First, I would have gone to a dual pattern cam. The exhaust port doesn't flow nearly as well as the intake (4V heads only, the 2V's have decent flow ratio) and needs the extra duration on the exhaust. Second, I'd weld plates into the floor of the exhaust ports. This would achieve the same effect as the port plates without the header gasket problems. I've heard good things about the hi-rise dual plane intake from FPP. Anyone have any experience with it? Also a note about compression. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the closed chamber Cleveland heads. I know lots of people who run them at 11:1 with no pinging.
