Brian, If you do indeed still have the stock flexible brake lines on your Pantera, I would highly recommend that you do not wait until next winter to replace them. I would replace them as soon as you can. They are old and very likely not in the best of condition. For your own safety, get rid of them now. It will definitely make a big difference in your brake pedal feel and could save you a major problem in the future. This will be $ well spent. Bill ---------- From: Brian P Lerose To: detomaso Subject: brakes revisited Date: Monday, March 24, 1997 10:20AM Hi everybody, I just got back to college, where my computer is, after a two week spring break. 106 pantera emails....WOW !! I took the advice given to me and I purchased a new brake master cylinder from PPC. It was $199 plus $10 for shipping. It is an aluminum ford unit with a billet aluminum adaptor to bolt it up to the booster. The intructions where confusing as hell. I would have been much better off with no instructions at all. Installation was fairly simple. I spent another $4 for brake lines and $45 for a double flaring kit. I am very satisfied with the fit and look of the new parts. I was able to take the car for a test ride and the pedal seems to be a little stiffer and higher. The big improvement is that it always works. No more having to pump the pedal a few times inorder to get pressure. While I was at it, I also bled the clutch. Eventually, I would like to replace the flexable brake lines with new stainless ones, maybe next winter. A friend of mine just gave me a slightly used Big Bore exhaust system for free!! This is my next project. Brian Lerose Waterbury, CT #1272 European push button
