To whom: Crushing: don't want to go there. Smog 2: Don't want to go there either. Amazing how these little issues can raise your blood pressure! Makes = me want to spit.... As former president of a local car club, I've been = dealing with this system for some time, and it only gets me aggitated = every time it pokes it's ugly little head up.... three tons my = posterior.....!!! Saw a possible solution to "our" little problems this weekend at a = local Mustang shop. Here was a '67 Mustang, pumped to the hilt, with = nary a smog worry. How, you may ask, does the owner get away with this? Answer: Historical plates. Yes I know, you have to surrender your blue and gold's, and you can = only put 3500 miles on annually.... but how many of you clock that many = in reality? Ever heard about driving on the tach?? Those speedo couplers = are so easy to get to on the ZF's.... I never said it was pretty, but it is a solution. Do you run the = webers or the blue & gold plates....? For some this will be a no = brainer.... The kink is this: how many Panteras were imported into California?? Not = the US, but CA? If this number is less than 2000 (per year??), I guess = that you qualify, plus a 25 year old clause, would put the 71-72 owners = in. However, there will have to be some documentation to prove the = 2000/CA numbers. Was any of this documented by Lincoln-Mercury? or can a = search by VIN# be done and tell what the story is that way?? If this guy can get a generic Mustang to qualify, I can't imagine why = the DeTomaso's wouldn't qualify either. Then run what-ever-the-hell-you-want!! And it's all legal.... until = some piss ant bastard decides that it looks like you're having too much = fun.... or producing too much smog... aack! Steve
