All, While we've pretty clearly established the differences in the gear ratios between early Dash-1 boxes and the later Dash-2 boxes, I've also learned that certain Dash-1 boxes came with the later Dash-2 ratios, but a 5.25 ring and pinion instead of the 4.22! I suspect there were only a very few of these, however. Also, another quick way to differentiate between a Dash-1 and Dash-2 in the car; the Dash-2 bellhousing has one business card-sized sight window on the left side, while the Dash-1 bellhousing has two smaller windows, one on each side. Also, down on the bottom right side, the Dash-1 bellhousing is stamped 'DeTomaso' while the Dash-2 bellhousing is unmarked. Also also, Jack has a couple of cases floating around his garage, and the Dash-2 case is considerably stronger. It features much beefier internal webbing, and seems to be generally better thought-out. I spent most of this evening sweeping and cleaning up parts and junk around my Pantera, but did get in it and start it up just to listen to the engine for a few minutes. Sigh. Now it's 2:25 a.m., and I'm babbling on about totally trivial Pantera geek stuff. I gotta get my car back on the road so I can start talking about knowledge gained first-hand like most of you guys!
