If the car is not to be kept immaculate, one of the best (but dirty) methods is to pour used motor oil into the large openings above the suspension brace (from inside the engine compartment). The cleaner and more permanent method is to temporarily plug the drilled holes with tape (or corks), fill the cavity with a paintable rust converter such as Extend, pull the tape and let drain. After the proper drying time, replug the holes, and fill with Rustoleum (color of your choice), pull the tape and let drain and dry.
