My car was the dual-supercharged one that overheated that Jack mentioned. Actually, I'm running the stock (type) motors and fan blades. When my car overheated, the impromtu tech session that formed around the car's nose came to the conclusion that (a) the secondary fan was running at only about half normal speed, and (b) the primary fan motor looked clean and so had probably been replaced at some point (it was running fine). The rocket scientist who replaced the primary motor (no, not me - done before I owned the car) put the fan blade on backwards, so the blade 'scoop' shape was ineffective and the fan was likely cavitating. Toss in a dying secondary, and it's no wonder the car overheated at idle on a moderately warm day. I've since moved the old primary motor to the secondary position and put in a new fan motor for the primary (and mounted the fan blades _correctly_). I haven't had the opportunity to drive the car much since I finished the work on the fans (a bearing on the supercharger drive shaft bracket tossed its grease seal and burned up, and it took me a few days to fix that). Now that the car is running again and the weather is getting warmer, I'll soon find out how well the fan motor upgrade has fared. Stay tuned.... -tom 74 euro GTS #6382
