Re recent comments on remodelling standard Pantera seats. My Pantera mechanic has just rebuilt the seats on a Pantera here, and will be doing mine shortly. He took the seats apart and welded new metal side-rails on each side of the top and bottom of the existing existing seat frames. He then built them up with foam and finally recovered them in glove leather. The result is stunning, both in looks and support. I have a question for the forum... I am considering putting louvres in the front guards, alongside the front hood right above the wheels, a la 1980 GT5. (I think they have them on the red car pictured on the front of the small red De Tomaso book.) From the photos I have seen it looks like they are put in upside down, i.e. the louvres point down into the wheel-guard rather than up, and point backwards rather than forwards. I presume this is so that dirt thrown up by the wheel does not fly out the louvres onto the windshield. Does anyone have any experience with these? Do the louvres actually work (allow air to be released from the wheel arch thereby reducing lift in the wheel arches)? Do they cause the car to get dirtier than normal? Any input would be appreciated. Steve Stone, Auckland, New Zealand '73 Pantera #4576 '76 Porsche 930 '88 Subaru 4wd
