Help! Just bought a '72 pre-L (#3847), 32,000 miles and put 800 miles on it the first day driving back from Chicago to South Dakota (where I am only temporarily). Ran great, had a blast, only one problem. I can't open the drivers side door. I've been talking about this car to my friends forever, and it takes a little something away from the impression when you have to climb in through the passenger side. I had some trouble locking that door, now it appears as though it won't unlock. I can take the screws off from the top of the door and look in pretty well, the linkage is all intact. I get the impression that although the rod you push to lock the door is moving up and down, the door latch itself isn;t really unlocking. Any recommendations? I'm stumped and about to cut a slit in the door panel to really screw with the latch, but am hoping for some miracle before things get that drastic.
