<Nobbie asks about getting water on the engine when washing.> <Brock responded about the engine cover being intentionally open, with the later cars getting the solid center part.> Actually, the solid center of the engine cover helps in my case - I have the Wilkinson blowers and without the engine cover, water fills the cavity in the middle of the housing. (How do I know this? Well, it involved parking outside while on vacation one night with no engine cover, then this light rain comes up for a few hours, and presto, I'm outside in the rain, leaning over this beautiful car with a turkey baster in one hand and a plastic bag in the other, trying to get the water out of the blower housing without letting everything else get wet...) One other amusing effect is in the case that you have wrapped your exhaust headers. They will absorb water, and when you fire the engine you will soon be enveloped by a James Bond-style cloud of steam. First time that happened (same vacation, later in the morning), I thought I'd blown the motor. -tom, 74 GTS #6382
