Woops, sorry I misquoted you Ted. I bought my "Robert (?) Shaw Hi-volume" thermostat from Pecker Boys, and it was listed for the Cleveland as 180. This design allows a lot more water to flow than an ordinary thermostat, and I noticed that it made a BIG improvement in the cooling of my car (my gauge always read 200-210 degrees, but with the new thermostat, it is now always 20 degrees cooler). Maybe this "Robert (?) Shaw Hi-volume" imitates the efficiency of the stock Cleveland thermos?that Ted mentions? On the flippant side, I've seen some many excellent and inexpensive tips on cooling Panteras with stock radiators (Jacks new pressure caps, Teds stock thermo, Sass' set-up, etc), I'm suprized the system is not pushing out ice cubes! Shane Ingate in San Diego >Hey, Shane and guys, I said 192 degrees. That is the stock Ford >replacement for all of the 351C engines used in the Pantera (as well as >every other car, I believe). MANY, MANY, MANY of you out there are running >thermostats without the funny little "hat" soldered on the thermostat for >the Cleveland ONLY. Without this, you bypass about 20% of the water back >to the engine and never getting to the radiator. (How do you spell "the >equivalent of a 20% smaller radiator?) Go to Pep Boys, or equivalent, and >actually look at a thermostat for the 351C (it WILL NOT list any other >engines) and compare it to a 351W for example. ALSO it will most probably >be a 192 degree. You MAY find a 180 degree, but you wont find a 160 >degree. > >Ted (Darth) Mitchell
