Brock, The fire department (crash and salvage) at Naval Air Station Oceana no longer uses PKP (Purple K) because of its corrosive nature. It's a bear to clean up, and on aluminum aircraft (or intakes and heads) is very corrosive. Now, would I hesitate to use a PKP extinguisher if my Pantera were on fire? Hell NO! I'd worry about the cleanup after the fire was out. Purple K used to be touted as one of the only agents capable of putting out a magnesium fire, which might be handy if the campis decide to spontaneously combust. There's something out there now called (something X... not Active X or the X-Files, but close) which is better at killing a magnesium fire, but it's about $125 a shot, and what are the odds your campis will be subjected to enough heat to catch fire. (If they do, one 2.5lb extinguisher would probably just irritate the fire a little.) The recommended agent around aircraft and piston engines is Halon, though shutting the engine off first is recommended where possible.
