As I recall, Mike Drew stated that it was very important to apply Zinc = Chromate to the wheels immediately after stripping off their paint. That = exposure would cause the wheels to deteriorate. When I did a ground up on my Pantera (84 - 86) I had the wheels = repainted. I don't recall any discussions about using Zinc Chromate on = the rims prior to painting. What effect, if any, would this have on the = rims? Can you ascertain the condition of the rims visually or is there = some other method that can be used to determine their current condition? Since I am planning on refinishing the rims again, I would appreciate = any advice on the best method to strip off the old paint. Based on the = prior thread on Campys I would assume that magnesium can not be = "polished out" like aluminum. Thanks...
