Incidentally, I just drove back from Columbus Indiana to DC yesterday (and

last night) through that huge storm in the mid-west (read: it rained the

whole way) on my R1's in my Miata and I was running speeds in excess of

80mph in light to medium rain.  Basically the limiting factor was visibility

due to the rain itself and the spray from other vehicles, rather than the

tires.



Conversely, I'd run the DOT Hoosier tires with the autocross compound at the

Pro Solo event in Columbus.  I finished DFL because it was raining like hell

(3" of rain Saturday) and everybody but me was running the R1's.  I know...

poor choice of tires for the event on my part.
