No ticket stories, just a detector recommendation. I purchased a Valentine One in 1992. This was sparked by the graphic illustration of how ineffective my well worn Passport was against the then new Stalker radar. The lesson was provided by a gloating Austin motorcycle cop after he finished writing me a ticket. He was more than happy to demonstrate his new toy by placing the gun against my windshield and blasting my Passport. It didn't even blink. Well, not one to be behind the technology curve, I did some research and bought the Valentine. Last summer, before a trip to Colorado, where I stumbled across the Colorado chapter's gathering in Aspen which rekindled my obsession with all things Pantera, but that's another e-mail. Anyway, before my trip I decided to call Valentine One to check on having a damaged button replaced. The tech person input my serial number and pulled up the specs of my model, she then listed what police radar upgrades had taken place since I purchased mine. She also let me know which types of radar I would be likely to encounter in Texas and on my upcoming trip. At this point I expected a sales pitch for a newer model, but instead I was told that Valentine would perform a retrofit and bring my model up to current specs. All for under $50.00 (I believe the price was actually $35, but my memory is going). They could also upgrade mine to include LIDAR detection for a bit more. So, I sent it in. This was about two months prior to my trip. Well, two weeks later a box from Valentine shows up. Great! I open it up and find that they have sent me a brand new unit. Fantastic! As far as the performance of the unit, it has worked flawlessly. The unit has three sensitivity settings, a directional indicator showing front/rear/left-right, signal strength indicator, and volume and muted volume controls. It is the best detector I have owned and has paid for itself several times over in prevented tickets. Sorry for the long post, but I really can't say enough about the quality of the product and the company. Trey ==============================================================================
