All; This is to thank those who provided me good advice (Tom Padula, Jack DeRyke, Ratboy, Ted Mitchell, Keith Verges, and others) on the cooling fans and relay/sensor wiring and answered my questions. I have no doubt that the info I got saved me a couple of hours of trial and error work. Now BOTH front fans run; they come on together and go off together. I might have preferred staged operation, but at least they both work. The rear sucker fan runs as it has from the dash switch. Thanks Guys! Turns out the upper radiator sensor wire that had been cut by previous owner had also pulled partway back into the plastic shrinkwrap sheath around the other wire, which is why I had missed it before. There was easily enough slack to strip and resolder it to the spade connector (or whatever it's called) and reclip it to the sensor. Could not get my hand in to pull the wires off and on the sensor, what with the relays there and the headlight shaft. But a long needle nose worked just fine for that. I don't know how I would have reached the BOTTOM sensor.......... One phenomenon I did notice is that with the front fans running, I can put my hand below the radiator from the front and feel quite a bit of warm air coming down the FRONT of the radiator to the ground. When I then switch on the rear sucker fan, there is no more of this downward 'bypass'. Which tells me that the sucker fan creates just enough of a partial vacuum to allow the front fans to do what they are supposed to do. I also would guess that all else being equal, sucker fans pulling through a flow restriction works better than 'pusher' fans trying to blow through a restriction. This also tells me that maybe I need to loosen the front fan motor clamps and see if I can realign the motors so that the fan blade wheel and outer ring plane is as parallel with the radiator plane as possible. I also assume that the fans should be as close to the front of the radiator as possible. Right now I have about 1/8" clearance at the tops of the fans; and about 3/8 to 1/2" at the bottoms. I'll try that NEXT saturday morning.......... chris bupp/whatcop ==============================================================================
