From: "Paul Timko" <TheDrol@msn.com> Subject: Rear Suspension A-Arm mounting bushings Date: Sun, 15 Jun 97 03:19:20 UT
Okay so that is a complicated subject, but it is accurate. I was cleaning up my engine compartment while waiting for that last two parts for my engine. In the process I removed the cross-member between the mounting brackets for the front of the rear lower a-arms. Where the rear mounting bracket for this a-arm enters the frame, I noticed some stress fractures. In fact, the inside of the passenger bushing has completely come away from the frame. This looks VERY bad to me. Now that I know there is a problem here, I can't rightly put it back and hope that it will go away. Somehow I feel that the process of it "going away" will end up with me at least stranded somewhere and at worst seriously damaged. So, I need to fix this. I was hoping that this is a common weak spot and there is a simple kit that everyone has already bought and installed. So, if one of you wonderful people out there could just tell me where to buy this miracle kit, I will be driving by then end of the month. Okay, back to being serious, how do I get this fixed? Is there a bushing I can buy with the same ID but a larger OD that can be mounted in the same place? Or do I need to get a MASTER (read expensive) welder out to reattach this bushing to the frame, with perhaps a plate on the inside of the frame? At this point all suggestions are being taken, and all ideas eagerly listened to. HELP!!!!! Paul Timko A broken #9270 ==============================================================================
