As we all know, R-12 is all but gone and is priced way out of reason. The replacement is R-134 which is not as efficient and is not compatable with R-12. However there is a new product. It is called HG-12 and IS compatable with R-12 from what I understand. Local parts stores carry it here and the local auto dealers have been using it right with the R-12. It is suggested though that you vacumme out all the old R-12 and replace the dryer. It is about the same price as R-134 and is actually 110% effecient when compared to R-12. Thus it workes even better, just imagine, colder air in the pantera. It is really funny, since I remember hearing of a product called GHG-12 about 4 years ago that was suppose to be 100% compatable with R-12. It could not be found and I heard that is was not allowed to be realesed for sale since the AC manufacturers wanted money from AC retrofits. It turns out that people instead of paying for a high priced retro, just rolled down the windows. Dont you love it when the greedy industry looses. Just my pennies.
