Kevin, Thanks! The eight (8) cars in my class were; five (5) late model Chevrolet Corvette's, one (1) Ferrari 348tb, one (1) Camero, and one (1) wild race prepared Chevy Pickup. Corvette's finished 2nd & 3rd place. Yea, the Corvette people jerked my chain all weekend "until" race day! The featured marque at this event was the Chevrolet Corvette and no less then five regional Corvette Car Clubs and 25 Corvette's participated in all divisions. Two out of three cars in the Unlimited Division were also Corvette (come on people!). . . Junior's highly modified Pantera GTS was the third competitor. We had a (117) cars compete in the May event. Some of the more interesting well prepared and/or race prepared cars were; an "original" 66' 427 Cobra (CSX 4000), 70' Boss 302, two Mustang Cobra's, a Saleen Mustang, a 70' Dodge Charger, a 73' Plymouth "Hemi" Cuda, two 69' AMC AMX's, two Dodge Vipers, a 70' AMC Javelin, 911SC, two Supra's, a NSX, and a Miata with a Ford 302 shoehorned inside. I just finished sending Mike Drew story & photo's which should be in the next POCA Quarterly. If you have any questions on the event or the participants please let me know. One closing remark/request. While Junior Wilson receives a great deal of respect from the veterans that participate in this event twice a year, Pantera participation is rare. In spite of Junior's accidents he has participated in every event since this series began 7 or 8 years ago. That's twice a year!! My suggestion to those of you looking for a road race challenge would be to go on out to Nevada with your car and put it on the road. Any doltz can put race tires on a Corvette BUT to prepare a 25 year old Pantera on the road and run it. . .Now that's OUR challenge. The next event is in September. The spectator's who go to this event love to see the vintage cars run the road down the mountain. My Pantera and I never got so much attention as I did when I went to Ely Nevada for this event.. I hope there is at least two or more Pantera owner's out there reading this that will consider participating in the Sept. event. And remember, there are five divisions ranging from 95 mph on up so you guys with what many of you consider to be jus' "driver's" (yea, right!) will also be amazed at how much attention you and your car get. It's a beautiful experience.. Mike Anderson ran his relatively stock Pantera in the 105 class last September and he has already commited to"return" this Sept. I don't think my cookie jar will recover enough from preparing for the May event to be ready for Sept., BUT I sure will support anyone out there who wants to take a shot at this event. Come on people step up to the plate. We owe it to Junior and our cars to ensure those guys with the late model plastic cars realize that "if it ain't steel it ain't real."
