The threads are NOT the problem.  The seal is metal to metal, as you wil note that eht fuel line is flared.  Check the float bowl fitting and the line for scratches, dings, etc. that would impair the metal-metal seal.  The tubinmg flare should be re-done if that is th problem or the float bowl fitting replaced, or both.  Float bowl fitting unscres with 1" wrench or so.
