Hi People, Ok, There are some concerns running a Water to oil cooler....The main one being if your water runs a little hot, lets say 220 degrees, then your oil is already at that 220 degree mark and it doesn't take much to get to the critical 250 degree mark. We have run the water to oil cooler, and changed back to the conventional type of cooler. If you are going to run oil lines for any length (more than 12")..#10 line is way too small, as that's only a 3/8 line and it creates a lot of friction within the line...You need at least a #12 line, especially if you run a dual oil filter set-up. The 2 best ways to reduce your oil temp is to..... 1) run synthetic oil... 2)run a roller cam.. I know that a roller is expensive, but it does reduce oil temps significantly, and you can get better power from them, a lot better power...We've even gone to the point of putting Torrington roller bearings on our camshafts, instead of conventional babbit bearings. As far as the MSD's...They are by far the best items on the market, when used with the corresponding distributors...never a problem with starting or high rpm misses but your battery needs to be at least 11 volts, or it will start to misfire at higher RPM's. One thing that needs to be checked is your box with the corresponding RPM chip...Whenever we run a customers engine, on the dyno, we use our MSD set-up for all the tests, but we will have the customer bring in his MSD set-up, and check the box for HP and the Rev limiter for correct rpm shut down....There are variances between rpm chips....Our's has been calibrated, and is correct...But if you've had your's for a while, chances are your RPM chip is probably a couple hundred RPM off... If any one wants...Send us your MSD box and Rev limiter, and we will check it....at no cost... By the way....The only thing we do are High-Performance and/or Race engines...We do quite a few Ford High-Performance engines, as well as all the others. We do a lot of Supercharged Fuel-Injected offshore big-block boat engines. We are a designated Ford Motorsport Dealer, as well as a Howe Racing Ent and Moroso dealer. We do have a lot of experience running the race engines..As we have 2 super late model stock cars, that we run 2 or 3 nites a week, both have Ford SVO based engines, and we run them to 8200-8500 rpm every lap, without any breakages..And we don't drive, we have 2 drivers, one female and one male to make sure our testing is unbiased and PC! We can get a fully custom aluminum radiator made, to your specs for around $300 plus shipping. Now that would be an autoclaved radiator (the way passenger car radiators are made) and not a hand soldered radiator. By the way...Dennis, $1000 buys you a set of USED Titanium rods...$3500 buys you a set of NEW ones! And, in a $35,000 new engine, there is about $31,000 of parts...plus we have to make everything fit (which nothing does), make all of the little knick-knacks and stainless lines, do all of the prep work, assemble the engine and run it on the dyno.. Regards.....Gary ==============================================================================
