The Directors of the Concours Italiano have asked the DeTomaso world to select prime specimens of Tom Tjaarda designed automobiles and especially DeTomaso automobiles such as the Pantera, Longchamp and Deauville, DeTomaso 1600 and other cars to come forward and display their cars on August 15th 1997. If anybody is familiar with the other cars designed by Mr. Tjaarda as well, please let us know if there are any examples available that we could persuade to bring to Monterey. If you would like to have your car in the Tjaarda display or the DeTomaso display, please let us know at :panteras@fia.net as soon as possible. We have also been asked to find and display a Dodge Omni DeTomaso edition and the Innocenti and the Isuzu(?) DeTomaso. Old DeTomaso race cars should also be rounded up. A historical display is being assembled by P.I. If you have any artifacts, posters, photos or paintings that could be copied and then enlarged into displays, please let us know. Over 60 cars are already entered in the DeTomaso display and it looks like 100 plus should be on the grass on the day of the show. One of each DeTomaso car will be presented in a special display with Roman columns and the name of the owner set forth on a sign. Mr. Tjaarda will be present to meet all of the Pantera owners and enthusiasts at the show and a special cocktail party on Saturday evening at the PI banquet, this will allow you to get up close with Tom. You will find him to be a most affable and pleasant gentleman. If you are coming to Monterey, you are in for a motorhead's holiday.
