I would like to thank very much all the persons who used some of their time to give me some advise to find out the reason why my engine pings. I now have a very good starting point to try to find the right solution. I understand that the following work can be done to find the cause of the problem: - Vacuum regulation of the ignition must be adjusted or vacuum must be left disconnected - Ignition must be retarded - Full distributor mechanical advance must not come in before 2700 rpm, or the springs must be changed - Fuel must be with the maximum octane available - Engine cooling not working properly - Wrong carburetor - Increase fuel jet size a couple of numbers - Use one number colder spark plugs - Headgaskets can be mounted backwards I now know what to do during my vacations. Thank you again. Sincerely, Cristiano M. Rossi Prinsessevej 11 2800 Lyngby, Copenhagen Denmark, Europe thpnma 02869 ==============================================================================
