You've already heard this, but I changed to a McLeod gear-drive starter five years ago, for the Pantera (10-1/2:1 C.R) and my Z-28 autocrosser (10: 1 C.R). Zero problems since. Someone told me all the aftermarket starters are derived from the 300ZX Nissen starter with different noses. Prices vary- Tilton is the highest. Be sure you get the "adapter" a 1/2" thich spacer to pull the bendix back for our flywheels. McLeod told me the adapter is actually for an automatic tranny but the Pantera mount requires it...? Be very sure a braided ground cable is attached to the tranny & body at the extreme rear or no starter will work right!
