Can anyone tell me how can I tell > if it's a Group 4 car for sure? Thanks to Don, Shane, Mike, Curt, JDeRyke, et al for setting me straight. And an extra thanks for not slammin' the newbie. The car I was looking at isn't even close to what you guys described. No roll cage, no racing seats/harness, no plastic windows, etc., etc., and it was street legal with a recent MO emissions sticker on it. Now I can go back to the dealer with a better idea of what the red rocket is worth. It just goes to show that it always pays to do your homework. Listen to this: I'm not a fan of late model Mustangs because I'm kinda disappointed in the styling so I don't know as much about them as I should. But one did catch my eye just a few weeks ago when I was on another used car lot. A 96 Cobra with a plastic hood, great looking wheels and side exit exhaust. I took it for a drive and it was pretty nice. Noticeably faster than the GT that I had driven. But the salesman (and sales manager) told me that it was a Cobra-R. Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding! Sure I'm interested because I'm looking for something exotic and a Cobra-R might fit the bill but I'm really suspicious because I knew that Ford only put out a few hundred of those R's and these guys were only asking five thousand dollars too much for the car. I go home and I'm on the net for less than 10 minutes before I find out that Ford didn't even build Cobra-R's in 96! Gimmie a break. That Mustang was an ordinary Cobra with Cobra-R wheels, an after market hood and some kind of SVO/Borla exhaust. Really nice car but no Cobra-R. -kt -- J.
