Thats the noise of an arcing coil lead at the tower before it disintegrates. Silence is the sound you'll hear 1 second afterwards. All, Pulling out of the garage on Sat for a drive up to Sass's place to upgrade the cooling system, I had exactly this happen to me. One of the problems of living near the sea is corrosion, and looking at the remains of the coil-lead cap, I could see some corrosion which lead to the arcing. Fortunately it happened now, and not halfway to Monterey or on track day! An easy fix, I then went through the rest of the ignition system, cleaning terminals and smearing with dielectric grease. Once I made it to Sass's (his garage is another religious experience, my first being at Alan Fosters garage), we drained the system, pressurized the overflow bottle, sealed the main coolant tank, and filled up with a combination of water, Pencool (formerly Nalcool) and Redline WaterWetter. I've now got one cool cat! Brack Tella was there too, with hsi dragging clutch. He and Sass rebuilt the master clutch cylinder, which solved his problem. It was smiles all round! So I've detailed the engine and interior, polished the wheels (yeah, yeah Mike, I'm still polishing the Campys). All that is left (touch wood) is to detail the exterior. (Actually, I've more to do than that, but after Moneterey!). Monterey and the Ford Love-In here we come. Yeaaahhhhaaa!
