Having worked on my share of Fords (mostly aging), you might be amused to know that the same filter (PH8A) was used on '84-91 Tempos and Escorts with the 4-banger engine (Ford made literally millions of them). It also fits the 429/460 bigblock engines - my girlfriend's ancient F150 uses them. Quite a versatile filter, no? Or do you suppose that Ford took the economies-of-scale thing a little far by using a filter that would fit a 460 and putting it on a 2.3-liter (140 cubic inches) Tempo motor? I'll tell my girlfriend her beater Tempo and rusty old truck both use a Ferrari oil filter - she'll get a kick out of that! -tom '74 euro GTS, #6382 ==============================================================================
