If heat coms out from your shifter-gate, it sounds as if you haven't got the factory-mounted rubber boot around the shift-lever. This boot is situated under the shifter-gate. As the boot is being moved every time you change gear, it will eventually crack and has to be changed after a few years. If you have the boot, no heat will exit from your shifter. If the american Pantera-vendors can not supply these hoses, the De Tomaso-factory has plenty of them in stock. They are not expensive.
