Hello all, First, I said: "As some have said before, "I'd much rather be driving a 300 horsepower Pantera than lying underneath a 500 horsepower Pantera! :>)" Then, Forest asked: Mike, that Pantera (that you are not driving) - what are you going to build? >>>Due to financial constraints, and the notion that bigger and better engine technology might lay right around the corner, I elected to just do a minor re-build on my existing Cleveland. It came with a monster solid-lifter cam; I put in a Comp Cams hydraulic cam. TRW 10:1 pistons, existing (already ported) open-chamber heads fitted with one-piece stainless valves and titanium keepers (because the builder happened to have a set literally just lying around collecting dust), and that fabulous FPP dual-plane intake, which netted me 389 hp and 380 ft/lbs of torque on the dyno, at 5500 rpm. 300 ft/lbs of torque at 2000 rpm, never falling below that value. So it should be a torque monster, not a revver. I think my total expenses were $1200 for parts, plus several cases of Canadian beer for the labor. Such a deal.
