If all I needed was a synchro or two, the tab would have been less than $2000, but once they took it apart, they found some of the gears had been chewed up as well (the situation Jack referred to) so I had to buy some new (aftermarket, fingers crossed!) gears. If I had it to do all over again, I would have spent the extra $500 on OEM or authorized replacement gears (Butfoy is now making gears for ZF to original spec, unlike the aftermarket gears which differ in subtle but important ways), but for now I'll just home my gearbox works when it comes time to drive it.
