I saw your reference to your former Allison ignition system (from Hall?) that

apparently went belly up at some point.........



My 74L has some sort of Allison ignition system, and had it when I bought the

car in 1993:  There is an "Allison XR700" box on the firewall, a red Allison

coil, and magnetic trigger stuff in the distributor.



The reason I ask is I am curious about: 1) does my system sound like what you

had, 2) do I have some incipient failure pending due to some system weakness,

and 3) how did yours fail? Were there some symptoms or was it a sudden death?



So far mine has been reliable for the past four years, though only about

10,000 miles in that time.



Any info in your memory banks would be appreciated.......
