Ted said: "Before you go spending all that hard earned cash..." Alas, I have already spent that cash. I should have changed the subject = on my post from "Crunching Synchros" to the "cost of ZP parts" and = monopolies. I was merely commenting on the cost of parts as it related = to the thread. I must admit that there is something troubling about = paying $565.50 for a pinion bearing or $133.50 for a synchronizer ring. = I recognize that prices have to be increased to protect profit margins = for limited production parts but I would still like to have more than = one source. It is my understanding that Butfoy has the sole license and = rights to manufacture these parts. Competition always seems to breed = some reductions in costs. Butfoy does have a good reputation and he is clearly an expert on these = transmissions. As Jack would say, at least we have a source for parts. I = would also recommend Greg Hunt (Kiwi Engineering) for those guys in New = England that do not want to ship their transmission to the West Coast. = This guy has rebuilt these transmissions under racing conditions - for = enduro racing. Ted - the advice on clutch adjustments is not wasted. Having spent all = this hard earned cash on ZF bits I sure as hell don't won't to damage = them. Thanks!
