This bugged me for oh, maybe 10 years on my car. Finally, I took the muffler off, cut a seam about 5"" long near the back and bent it up. The "baffle" is a flat washer maybe 2" in dia. that was welded to the end of the screen outlet to the tailpipe and seems to serve as the last sound deadener before the gasses exit. There is a washer on each tailpipe. Corrosion, time & vibration broke the weld. I dumped it out, rammed a pipe down the other screen to break that one and rewelded the seam. Total time: 1 hr. There is no other way that I know of to stop the rattle. By the way, the so-called GTS exhaust doen't have these washer-baffles, and produces a slight increase in noise when they're gone, but nothing radical. J DeRyke
