Going back abit about classic car insurance. On the comment from Judy McCartney about their insurace, I hooked up with DeMeulle Insurance Agency. And I got a policy through them with Hagerty Classic Auto Corp. that is covered by Greenwich Insurance Company. Well, no one through DeMeulle had made any claims, so it was unknown how well the company will respond. But I got it anyway. That said, the coverage is agreed value of $30,000 (they will pay up to a full $30K in damage, no matter the worth at the time) $100K liability and $0 (zero) deductible. All for $431 per year. Well, sounds good but will they pay? Unfortunately I found out! But, yes they paid right up! 9-20 I was on my way to a chapter meeting, in changing lanes around another car I hit a truck tread in between lanes. A full five foot dead gator. I hit it dead on (one way or the other it may have flipped up and hit the side of the car, and not enough space to clear it with all the traffic) and it messed up the lower front valance. 9-30 I get a estimate from a local shop for $1691. That's cutting the old valance off and welding in the new part (from Cook), etc... 10-1 I call Greenwich to report the claim. I fax the estimate and they call me back saying the estimate look resonable and asked for a photo of the damage before they would send out a check. They were very polite and was only a 2 minute call. 10-5 I take some photos and take them to the local 1 hour photo, and they say they'll be ready tommorow at 2:00pm. (make that 24 hours photo). 10-6 I receive a check (made out to me) for the full amount, that was dated 10-2 (the day after I first called them)! 10-7 I sent the photo. And now I'm telling you all that this was incredible! No hassle, no questions, nothing needed in writing. Just way to easy. I give them a 10! And perhaps this is the reason, that I'll tell others in the clubs I'm in and they will get more business. Curt T. 1TO9 MPG, my head is still spinning.
