Mike, you persist in trying to use logic in matters of law & politicians where it does not apply. If this keeps up, we may need to recommend remedial political science courses! OK, short words only: the legislature does not care if cars were made in Jan or in Dec of a given year. They do require the car to be AT LEAST 25 years old. They do this by requiring them to have been made the previous year to the cutoff. Thus a '73 will be AT LEAST 25 years old Jan 1 of 2004. This is how the original Smog law (with a cutoff at 1965) was rigged back when you were still discoloring your undies with strained carrots. I will be vastly surprised if they give us a break on the '73s since they specifically amended the original bill to insert the new dates, thus allowing them to make a buck on the cars being exempted. Remember: there's counting, and there's lawyers counting. J DeRyke
