Don't be embarrassed- this has happened to lots of Panteras. Tech Service Bulletin 34 (Mar 16, 1973) says the length should be 38" from stop to tip; mine is 38-1/8". These are stock Mustang dipsticks that Ford modified (by brazing a spring section in) and some weren't done right. I've seen one that was 36"! Very early Panteras used the Mustang setup which meant you needed to pull the engine screen and reach way forward to get the dipstick. And good luck on putting it back! J DeRyke
