Both.  



Posting message to this list is not restricted to members.  In the past I've

found that to be a bigger headache than a help, especially since spammers

nowadays just subscribe their bogus address before they spam.



The list software has filters in place for some of the more common spam

phrases in subjects and stuff, but you're right - a stubborn spammer will

get through.  Mostly they haven't found us yet.

Heh.  I've spent many man-hours constructing spammer-resistant mail systems

for clients, and I'm starting on the mother of all spam blockers now also

for a client.



Funny thing is I haven't needed to use this stuff on my system (mostly).

For some reason, even though I personally get spammed alot, the lists here

don't seem to get too much spam.



In any case, you can bet that I'll do whatever is necessary to keep the

slime-sucking spammers out of our happy little community...
