Mike, I don't know what kind of deal the US has with Germany but I suggest that you check very carefully the rules of (temporary) import in your case. In Sweden you would not be able to operate your car on a US license for as long as three years. You'd have to import it and register it in Sweden paying import fees and stuff that are a significant amount of money. When exporting the car back to the States non of this is likely to be refundable. You'd also be subject to tech inspection which I understand is very strict in Germany. German authorities are not well known for their great flexibility (read: known for their great un-flexibility) in interpretation of laws and regulations. Perhaps Roland Jaeckel from Hamburg could fill you in. I can't find his e-mail address, but I think he may subscribe to this list. Regarding shipping/selling/storing I'd suggest you ship your Pantera b/f at the Navy's expense (if it works with the above), sell the Saab and buy a new German car of your choice for export and use the money you saved on that deal (and not woodgraining the exterior of your Pantera) to ship that car back to the States at your own expense.
