From: pantera@shiseis.com (Shane F. Ingate) Subject: 1998 POCA ELECTIONS Date: Fri, 7 Nov 1997 17:05:16 +0000
All, I am forwarding the following on behalf of Bill Hohnhorst. Shane 1998 POCA ELECTIONS =================== If you haven't already you will soon be receiving your POCA 1998 Election Ballot in the mail. A separate mailing has been used to mail the ballots to every POCA member in good standing. For the first time in several years, the President and Vice President positions have more then one candidate running for each position. I personally believe that all four candidates are well qualified to hold the positions and POCA will be well served no matter who is elected. I gave long thought to whether I really wanted to run for President of POCA. Based on my experience as being President of the San Diego Panteras chapter, I know it takes a considerable amount of time and energy. In the end, I decided it was time to "put up or shut up", as the old saying goes. As a result on my 20 plus years of being a POCA member and my four plus years on the POCA Board, I believe some refinements need to be made in our quest to make POCA an improved and truly national organization. Here are some of the areas that I believe need to be addressed. 1. We need to bring POCA on-line. With our members and future members spread out all over the country and the world, it is the fastest way for people to reach us. And as the Internet revolution continues, it will become the primary means for communication in the 21st Century. We need to be there! We need to be ready! 2. We need to continue to improve our publications. They are our most important products. 3. We need to develop a method for having Board Meetings in which all Board Members can participate, no matter where they live. And the results of these Board Meetings need to be disseminated to all members. 4. We need to complete the task of revising the POCA By-laws to reflect the fact that we are now a national organization. 5. We need to continue to grow, prosper, and support our annual International Convention. If I am elected, I promise you that I will use my knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to serve POCA in the best ways I know now. I hope I have that opportunity. Sincerely, Bill Hohnhorst
