Jack, Was there an outer GTS bearing as well? Beefing up the inner seems less important than improving the outer load capacity. The inner bearing floats axially in the upright, doesn't it? Couldn't one just install two standard inner bearings with a correspondingly shortened inner spacer? If you or anyone else would happen to have a spare disassembled upright, could you check what the bearing bore looks like? I would like to know if there is a nice 80 mm bore all the way through from the inner bearing to the outer bearing. If there are cavities larger than the bore inside the upright, how far away from the upright inner edge/outer bearing inner edge are they? How long is the standard inner spacer? Regarding an old posting: You wrote that you preload the tapered bearings with 30 ft-lbs. To me that sounds like a very high preload. Pantera front wheel bearing preload is in the INCH-lbs range. Most front wheel bearings are set up with zero or finger tight preload as far as I know. Comments anyone?
