I have noted that to be successful, a Chapter needs about 20 hard-core members (not wives of members but separate families) that are willing to do all the work for everyone for a few years, until all members get comfortable with each other. As Dave said, Tech Sessions are a big thing for new members, who are usually clueless about the car in at least a few areas. Save one guys' a... and he remembers it, maybe volunteers for something next time. We were stuck at about 60 (25 active) members for several years, until one new Prez decided to run an ad in the Newspaper. Simple thing but we'd never done it. We wound up with around 20 new members that year and that made the club self-starting (drop-outs more than balenced by newbies). Sometimes you get lucky re people. One guys' wife was one of our better Presidents while he remained in the background. J DeRyke
