Are the -1 and -2 boxes so >ID'd? > >MD > ------- Yes. On all ZF gearboxes, mounted on the box where the linkage enters (I belive, it's been awhile) is an identiplate featuring all the gear ratios, etc. On it, it says, "5DS/25-1" or 5DS/25-2" depending on the type of gearbox. Early -1 gearboxes were used on the Mangusta, and on VERY early Panteras, '71 only, and even then quite a few '71's came with the later -2 box. Easy way to ID them at a glance: -2 gearbox has one large inspection port on the left side of the bell housing. -1 gearbox has two, smaller ports cast into the top of the bellhousing, one on each side. No way Bo-Bo has a -1 box, unless it's been changed, and that I seriously doubt, given how original the rest of the car is. Sorry Bo-Bo. Hey, at least you're out there drilling away in your Pantera on the racetrack, which is more than a lot of us (me included) can say! :>) Mike Drew (Steppin' down to Cairo in a little while...) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
