Subject: Rear axles

I've just pulled both my rear axles out and to my surprise the threads are

different on the two axles. The left side axle has a left hand metric thread

and the funny nut that requires a special socket.

The right side has a right hand thread 1 3/8" 12 tpi and a normal hexagonal

nut.

Anyone seen the later bafore? My car came from the States so I'd assume this

is some aftermarket piece that was put on the car during repair.

My concern is strength if this is a non factory part. All hints on the

history of these axles are welcome.
