I recently realized that my '80 (euro spec) 928 has a collapsable spare that

looks identical to those used on the Pantera, though my Kitty doesn't have a

spare so I can't compare directly.  I find this interesting since I'd read

that these types of spares were discontinued long before 1979 due to

inflation safety concerns.



Anyway, the reason I'm writing this message is that Porsche provided a

little cigar lighter-powered air compressor to pump up the spare instead of

the gas cylinder inflators that came with Panteras.  I always assumed that

sudden inflation was a necessary part of how the collapsable spare works,

but this little compressor isn't going to inflate _anything_ very quickly.
