Hello, Dave Hello? Did it 2 ½ years ago with the great Paul McCarty. It was fun but grueling. The Profiles from Fall or so 1995 has a long (probably dull) story on the trials and tribulations and my suggestions that others do it. So far we are the only persons to ever complete the One Lap in a Pantera, as far as I know. Finished about 20th overall and 2nd in Vintage Imported. Very tough race and you better know how to drive. Many pros drive in this event and My best finish was about 12th overall at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It would be very cool to do it with a "team" of Panteras. It is not cheap, though. Entry fee is $2000 or more and lodging, fuel, etc means you better budget at least $4000 BEFORE you pay for the car preparation and what you WILL break. My total tab was in the $6000 range, hence I don't do it every year. Plus, with towing back & forth, it's 10 days' vacation that are not very relaxing. I say GO FOR IT Only squirrels and woosies shy away from the Lap Keith >>> David Doddek <pantera@pobox.com> 01/01/98 07:59PM >>> I saw a results sheet from the One Lap of America race and was dissapointed that there was no pantera. This is one neat race where you run from race track to race track over about 8 days and take one lap at speed. You are timed on each track and get points. Most points gets the win. I saw several Plastic Pigs (vettes) in the top 10 and a couple of plain non turbo 911s. Now I know a well preped pantera (Mad Dog, Kirby, etc) should be able to woop the shit out of those other high buck low performance cars. How about it folks, we need some Panteras here also. check out http://www.rochesterdandc.com/onelap/intro.html for some more info. How bout it folks. More pantera PR potential and it is sponsered by Car and driver. One more challenge for the pantera is the Car Craft real street eliminator contest. This is where they take a car and run through gas mileage tests, skidpad tests, drag race, general drive adn one other that I cant remember. These are real street cars and anyone can enter. Never saw a pantera in there. When My car is done I am going to apply. They only take about 8 cars per year. I have seen results and it is an easy challenge for a pantera. Just for example, this year I could of placed first or second in Drag race, got 2 in gas mileage and probably first in the skidpad. Sounds like an easy win. Shoot, I have even seen trucks in the challenge. I have not found information for this challange on the web, but it is in the latest Car Craft issue or by now the last issue. Dave D
