All, Got this today from Frank Wissman, a PCNC member who doesn't own a Pantera and doesn't plan to; he just likes us more than the Ferrari and Maserati boys. He drives a 246 Dino (yellow) and a Maserati Merak (unknown color.) He wrote: What's all this red=Ferrari; yellow=Pantera stuff, anyway? The yellow on the Ferrari badge & shield is the town color of Modena, where the factory was before and during part of the war. [See footnote] Charming custom, having a town color, actually. If you look at many of the debut and show cars, a lot of Ferrari's are first seen in yellow (Giallo Fly). The works race cars are always red [Russo Rubino, and now the "phrase" is ox-blood red]. With all Modenese cars having a legitimate stake in yellow, Ferrari, DeTomaso, Maserati, the most recently collapsed Bugatti, and Lamborghini on a short hop could all lay claim it. Tough call. Maybe Lee (Scales) has a thought if a yellow Pantera would look good. FW [footnote] The irony is that the factory moved during the war to the southeast to avoid being bombed by the allies. Naturally, it was bombed only in Maranello!
