When I was just a pup, and had owned my Pantera for about two weeks, I (myself, actually, not smart enough to realize I had no idea what I was doing and shouldn't have been let anywhere NEAR the underside of a Pantera without adult supervision) completely overhauled the rear bearings. Jacked the rear end, pulled the right hub carrier no sweat, then tried to pull the left one and the lower shaft was seized onto the hub carrier. So eventually I pulled the whole lower control arm and hub carrier together as a unit. Took all this stuff (complete, with brake discs and everything), loaded it into a big duffel bag, then managed to bungee-cord the thing to the back of my motorcycle (since the Pantera was, at that time, my only car!) Somebody once told me the complete hub ass'y weighs 90 lbs. So I've got two hub ass'ys, plus this big a-arm sticking out the side, strapped onto the back of my GPz1100, maybe 200 lbs. I wobbled and weaved across town to the machine shop, they pressed everything apart, I realized I needed one new axle, so loaded up all my stuff and rode back home. After driving with a friend (in a car) down to Jack DeRyke's house that weekend, and a complete circus as we tried to get the a-arm and hub apart (broke the a-arm in the process!), the next week I loaded up my bare hub carriers, new axles and bearings on my motorcycle again and rode back to the machine shop to have everything pressed together, than rode back to the car and installed them. You'd be amazed how much junk you can pack on a bike if you're careful, and not smart enough to figure out you really should be driving. How about SIX 24-pack cases of Coca-cola? (Hey, it was on sale!) Or a pair of Cleveland cylinder heads? Or a complete Macintosh computer (and printer!) 'Course, I went and bought a beater Scirocco a few years later, and now haul everything in that. Well, mostly...:>) Mike
